Metallizing

Metallizing is a substitute for painting structural steel that protects steel for decades longer than paint alone. This is a proven process, which has been used around the world for years. Steel of every shape and size can be metallized either in-shop before construction or on-site instead of less effective repainting. Metallizing is the most versatile and effective coating for protecting metal structures.

It is a process by which solid metal alloys, usually in wire from, are vaporized with extreme temperature achieved by flame torch or electric arc, and aerosolized against a prepared surface to create a new surface coating. The coating is actually a mechanical adhesion of the sprayed metal to the substrate eliminating metallurgical concerns regarding compatibility and strength reduction. The process applies minimal heat in the form of the material sprayed so the concern of thermal degradation is also eliminated. Its primary uses are for corrosion control and cathodic protection. It has unusually good adhesion to concrete surfaces and forms a waterproof barrier here too. It has also found a miche in the esthetics and decorating markets as a decorative finish and as an nin-skid surface.

Marvin Wright, who heads up our Metallizing Division, has twenty years in the construction field, seven of which is in coating applications primarily metallizing. He has worked on a wide variety of projects metallizing all over the world. Now he brings this experience and expertise to Environmental Management Inc.

Here at Environmental Management, Inc. Our commitment to reliable services, quality applications, customer care, health, safety and environmental issues are all part of our corporate identity.
